Why did America not support the Vietnam war?
President Johnson (the us president) had a a theory called the 'domino theory'. This was the fear of the spread of communism across other countries. So he sent America to war againt the communist government, of which they lost :(

yes... John Foster Dulles came up with the domino theory which basically said that if one country fell to communism then the countries next to that would fall, and so on. America was worried that if the countries in southeast Asia, such as Vietnam, fell to communism then they would too. (However, china had fallen to communism but it hadn't affected any of its neighbours so this was a flaw in the theory). Also, America didn't want southeast Asia to become communist because they needed to still have access to the raw materials and markets there, but they wouldn't be able to if the area became communist.
