They started it.

AnswerGermany didn't start it. Serbia and Austria-Hungary started it. When Russia mobilized to assist Serbia, Germany sided with Austria-Hungary and declared war on Russia; leading to war with Japan, Italy, France, Great Britain, Portugal, Belgium, and eventually the US. Of the Central Powers, Germany proved to be the most difficult one to beat, and Germany was hated as much as it it had started the war. It was also not in Germany's favor that the Germans introduced chemical warfare, violated the neutrality of Belgium, used zeppelins and bombers against enemy cities, and submarines against enemy shipping.
