Bad. You can't really explain it but I'll try to from interviews and reports.

They often report that one particular incident will be the one that visits them in in their nightmares for often the rest of their life.

They regularly see body parts exploding, people being hurt or killed, and most report eventually they just don't think about it. Some people back home say soldiers become "cold" when they reutrn, as in somebody dying in a car accident, the dead body doesn't bother them like it does everyone else.

Their experiences phsyically were constant injuries (minor) and in many cases, severe injury.

They were exposed to gases, artillery, grenades, bullets, and countless other war weapons.

The sights they saw were accordingly the most terrifying,
