A summary of this would be how each country was divided to create conflict. Each country there is made of mixed ethnic groups that fight ferociously over religious and land owning things. For example, Iraq is made of Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds. The Shiites have the majority and want the country together because they are in control. The Sunnis also want control of the country, so bombs go off almost every week. The Kurds are located in the northeast part of the country and want to join other Kurds in neighboring countries in a new government called Kurdistan. They are in this situation because of the destruction of the Ottoman Empire that was on the Axis side of WWI. Almost completely spent, the countries were mixed up by lines on a map so they would fight amongst themselves instead of combining forces to regain their country if they were split ethnically. Today this is a huge problem because the United States is fighting a long war there to keep the country together and to supposedly introduce democracy. a couple of reasons for this are that the oil there and in neiboring countries is selling for a huge price around the world and the oil market can't take a hit like having no oil to buy until the power is settled and then paying larger premiums than now. Another cause is that Turkey, a Muslim democracy has a huge chunk of Kurdish people in it and doesn't want to loose the land to them and have to deal with Another Country. As a Democracy, the United States feels compelled to try and stop that, even going as far as clearing airspace all throughout the Kurdish lands for a Turkish bomb strike on the Iraqi land. All this bloodshed can be almost directly traced to a European indifference to the Middle East and a poorly made, rushes decision from the victorious Allied Powers.

In those times the Middle East was a region that had been dominated by Ottoman Empire (now Republic of Turkey) for over 5 centuries. The Ottoman Empire formally entered World War I with the bombing of Russian Black Sea ports on October 28, 1914 . After that, Allied Powers declared war on the Ottoman Empire on November 4. During WW1, Arabs that under Ottoman Empire were promised independence for their regions if they helped the Allied Powers. After World War 1, Arab regions expected the British to keep their word. But while the Syrian Congress selected their own king (Faisal), the UK assumed mandates over Mesopotamia and Transjordan, and France over Lebanon and Syria.

The Turkish War of Independence begun on May 19th 1919 against Allied Powers. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (Great Turk) was the leader. The Turks won the war against the Allied Powers and the Turkish Republic was officially proclaimed on October 29, 1923.
