The term used to describe consecutive victories in the Pacific front during World War II is "island hopping." This military strategy involved capturing specific islands, bypassing others, and establishing bases to move closer to Japan. It enabled Allied forces to gain strategic advantages and ultimately contributed to the success in the Pacific theater.

Where did people in world war 2 fight?

The European Theater of Operation was fought in Africa, The Balkans, Italy and the rest of Europe. The Pacific Theater of Operations was fought from India, Burma and China over to Australia and all the way up to Japan and Manchuria. Most of the South Pacific, Central Pacific Islands, Hawaii and Alaska were involved. I have given you a link below which has many of the war locations but I am not certain there are maps on the link. The site may link you to maps however.

Which ww2 US aircraft shot down the most aircraft?

The Grumman F6F Hellcat, with 5271 credited victories, mostly operating from US Navy carriers in the Pacific. The aircraft also was operated by the US Marine Corps, and by the Fleet Air Arm of Britain's Royal Navy. Fifty-two kills of the above total were by Royal Navy Pilots, and eight were by US pilots in the invasion of southern France. The P-51 Mustang was second. The deadliest fighter of the war was the German Bf-109 (or ME-109 in older writings), which is not surprising given that almost 34,000 were produced and it was in service in one variant or another throughout the war. The Spanish Air Force continued to operate this fighter into the late 1960s.

Who was the supreme Allied commander during World War 2?

There were two Generals who were given the title "Supreme Allied Commander" during WWII: In the European Theater of Operations, it was General Dwight D. Eisenhower; in the Pacific Theater of Operations, it was General Douglass MacArthur. It should be noted, that this was a title only, and wasn't really an operational command. That is, as the Allied war effort was broken up into a number of different Theaters, each theater had a Supreme Commander (though, only MacArthur and Eisenhower were given that title), and acted independent of other "Supreme" Commanders. All commanders reported to the Allied Joint Chiefs of Staff command structure (the combined British Empire and United States command). So, while Eisenhower was Supreme Commander of the Western European Theater, that did not encompass the North African Theater, nor the naval forces in the Atlantic, nor the strategic bombing forces (i.e. 8th Air Force, and RAF Bomber Command). Similarly, MacArthur was Supreme Commander only of the Southwest Pacific Theater, while Nimitz commanded the Central Pacific Theater. Honestly, "Supreme Commander" is a misnomer, given the relatively fractured organization of Allied commands.

Why did Leland Stanford believe that Chinese laborers were important to the completion of the railroad?

Labor ShortageIn early 1865 the Central Pacific had work enough for 4,000 men. Yet contractor Charles Crocker barely managed to hold onto 800 laborers at any given time. Most of the early workers were Irish immigrants. Railroad work was hard, and management was chaotic, leading to a high attrition rate. The Central Pacific management puzzled over how it could attract and retain a work force up to the enormous task. In keeping with prejudices of the day, some Central Pacific officials believed that Irishmen were inclined to spend their wages on liquor, and that the Chinese were also unreliable. Yet, due to the critical shortage, Crocker suggested that reconsideration be given to hiring Chinese. He encountered strong prejudice from foreman James Harvey Strobridge
