Pro: To save millions of Japanese lives, millions of Allied lives including the Reds who were ready to invade Japan. That is what the atomic bombs did accomplish. Some Japanese say it was better to lose some of their own rather than be wiped off the face of the earth by the Reds, Americans, Canadians and Australians.
Con: They killed hundreds of thousands of people with the bombing, radiation fallout and subsequent infections and cancerous diseases derived from the radiation poisoning. Atomic bombs are not militarily proper to use.
Thoughts to consider: The military leaders for the next 6 decades have never lobbed one of their nuclear missiles knowing they would wipe out 1/3 of the earth with one of the modern nuclear missiles. That would not include the amount of deaths afterward. So did they learn from the atomic bombing of World War 2?
The military warriors of the Red Army, US Army, The Marines, The Royal Forces all say they are extremely grateful for the atomic bombs finally motivating Emperor Hirohito to surrender. Had Hirohito not surrendered it is likely a good eighty percent of the Russians, Americans, Brits, Canadians and Australians would have died right alongside the Japanese military and civilians. Many of the warriors have gone up to the developers of the atomic bombs and thanked them. There have been Japanese civilians who were so relieved it was over and mourned the loss of the Japanese who had to die just to get Hirohito to finally end the war. The Japanese civilians did not have any "power of the voice" to motivate their leaders to stop the war.
PROS: It ended the war. We gave them a chance to surrender. There would have been more people killed if we had went over there to fight. The two cities that were bombed were going to get fir-bombed anyways. Only two bombs were ready and we couldn't afford to drop a test one. The results of the bomb droppings have prevented other countries from dropping nuclear bombs and such.
The pros and cons of the atomic bomb are greatly debated. Some say that there were less U.S. casualties because of the bomb, which ended the war quickly. It would also make us look powerful and mighty. Without the bomb, we would look defenseless. So much money was spent to research and build the bombs that we figured that we might as well use them, or it would look like we were just wasting money. On the other hand, innocent civilians' lives would be lost, the power and potential of the full-scale bomb is truly unknown. The bomb would give the U.S. a savage and immoral image, and would leave great devastation in the affected country, giving us a bad reputation, possibly causing the opposite of the wanted effect. It could cause a larger war involving more countries.
There are no cons, other than the usual logistical problems which is part of life. The people needed food and medical supplies...we supplied it. It was worth it.
1945 marked the beginning of the Atomic Age for mankind. Not just for the United States, but for the whole world. Nuclear weapons led to to nuclear energy and a cold war. A cold war is a military stand-off between two nations. In this particular case, the cold war was a military stand-off between two NUCLEAR ARMED nations. The US & the rest of world were affected by the cold war, and atomic energy. Pros of nuclear energy: It is clean burning and lasts nearly forever (no need to refuel). Cons of nuclear (atomic) energy: ultimately there is a wasted product (by-product) that must be disposed of; and currently there is NO way of disposing of it, other than burying it somewhere. Secondly, the nuclear material that creates the atomic power is in itself a deadly poison. Third, all man made machines and systems are not perfect; sometimes they break...when an atomic plant has a malfunction, things can become serious (such as a nuclear meltdown). See Film:The China Syndrome, starring Jane Fonda.
PROS: -they had many alliances -reputation of a strong country -land could be gained CONS: -loss of military strength -loss of money -death -would make a distraction for more important problems on our country. PROS -

The cons of dropping the atomic bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the number of civilians killed. The other facts were positive like ending the war and the number of lives saved of our military personnel.
i know it stopped WWII and killed many of insist people.
After it was done, no one could do a thing about that. It is true that the bombs ended the war and collapse Japan's to make war again but on the hand the advocates against the use of atomic bombs mostly referred on the civilian casualties, the illness it brought and the devastation.

Stopped expansion of Japan in WW2. Ironically, we dropped the A bomb and killed many to save much more.
Too many civilian casualties, the illness it brought and the devastation.
It ended the war and collapse Japan's means to make war again but on the other side, many civilians were killed.
etnies are bomb
bomb them
Making Japan surrender to end World War 2 was the only pro to the bombing. The main cons are that 135,000 of mostly civilians died as a result, and in particular, the second bomb was probably not even necessary. Lots of second guessing by people not having to live through the war is not really all that helpful, but it is good to reflect upon arguably bad decisions that have been made and to try not to repeat them.
