The jury is still out on who won the battle of Ironclad and continues to be a topic for debate. The battle was very important to both the north and south but since neither ship put the other out of battle the true results are inconclusive.
Though the action was a tactical stalemate, since the Union blockade was not broken; so, the strategic victory must go to the North.
