Yes indeed, but not at first. Originally the USSR and Germany were Axis allies, until Hitler turned on Russia and tried to invade her. As the Russians forced the German soldiers remorselessly back to whatever was left of home, they captured most of the Eastern European countries, and half of Germany, as part of Stalin's equivalent of Hitler's "Thousand Year Reich". We were Allies, but Winston Churchill (his knighthood came much later) recognised the Russian aims, and after the War-end settlement by him, Roosevelt and Stalin, his "Iron Curtain ... across Europe" metaphor stayed current until the collapse of the USSR in the 1990s.
From September 1939 the USSR was an ally of Germany, invading Poland from the Eastern side and annexing large portions of that country. However, on June 22 1941 Hitler decl.ared war on USSR, which then became the ally of BRITAIN - not just England.
Britain was desperate to hold off Germany and when Germany declared war on the USSR, Britain was quick to offer aid.
The Allied powers - USSR, as well as United States, Britain, France, Canada, Poland and many other smaller nations won the Second World War.

The US, USSR, and Great Britain were the "Big Three" and they led the Allied countries against the Axis countries led by Germany, Japan, and Italy. * When the war began it was Great Britain, France, and Poland allied against Germany alone.

they are divided among the allied powers (USA, USSR (union of soviet socialists republic,) and Britain)
Because Hitler's territorial expansion swept into Poland, who was allied with Britain and France, so they went to war with Germany. America joined on Britain's side, and the USSR broke it's alliance with Germany and attacked.
The Allied powers were the countries like the US and Great Britain in world war 2 that opposed the axis powers in World War 2 or Italy and Germany.
There were actually many more than just five countries that were part of the Allied Powers. They are listed below. At the beginning of the war, after the US entered the war, the major powers were Great Britain, the US, the USSR, France, and China with Great Britain, the US and the USSR being the major leaders of the Allied forces.Allied countries in WWII:Great BritainUnited StatesUSSRChinaFranceBelgiumAustraliaBrazilCanadaCzechoslovakiaEthiopiaGreeceIndiaMexicothe NetherlandsNew ZealandNorwayPolandthe Philippine Commonwealththe Union of South AfricaYugoslavia
