Most of the world didn't know that the Holocaust was going on. It was a very well kept secret.

But ...News of the Holocaust did reach the outside world, which didn't want to know about it.

America was one of the many countries who, in the beginning, didn't do much for the Jews in the Holocaust. They didn't even let the Jews come in because they didn't want to be a part of it.

It is important to know just at which stage in the Nazi partys' power in Germany between 1933 & 1945 you refer to. It was obvious that Hitler was discriminating against the Jews. It was well known that he had a 'Social Reformation' programme. It was known that there were prisons, camps, for 'Social Inadequates'. And a great many people, both inside Germany & elsewhere, particularly those of a 'Right Wing' persuasion, thought this was ok. This is before WW2, the 1930s. Please be clear on this: This was not OK. It is not ok to be in governmental power and destroy any section of society because their religeous beliefs do not conform. Or their political beliefs. Or their desire to speak freely. Or that their history of ancestry is different or diverse. But as I say, a great many people were not so concerned, or were their governments, as to complain or take any notice whatsoever. German domestic politics were not an issue. Which really is the answer to the question. Now we get to the difficult bit: The mass destruction of the people of Europe of the Jewish Faith. By the time WW2 arrives in ernest, post May 1940, and the Germans have established a rule in Poland they begin to set up the camps which are to be 'Death Camps': Centres of Extermination of the Jews & others. Bergen-Belsen wasn't in Southern Poland, it's in Germany: When the British Forces got there in 1945 it was a very great shock to the soldiers who liberated the camp. Quite simply they never even imagined such inhumanity. They simply didn't know..... Auchwitz had been relieved by the Russians months ago.... (As far as I know) Nothing had been said.

Many countries were afraid that the Nazis would come for them. The United states had originally remained neutral during WWII, but joined in after the bombing on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. The Japanese worked with Germany during WWII. As a counter attack the U.S bombed Hiroshima with a very powerful atom bomb. This made the U.S have to be part of WWII. Germany would have later came after them. If the U.S wouldn't have joined, Germany and Japan probably would have won.

OopsPlease be aware that World War 2 and the Holocaust are notthe same thing.
