Why was the tsarina Alexandra the figure of hate during World War 1?

Several reasons. She was a German. Her mother was a daughter of Victoria of England, but her father was the ruler of a small German state.

When she came to Russia, she was very young, just married, did not speak Russian and was already the Empress. She was painfully shy. To many, this made her seem cold, aloof and uncaring.

Alexandra was also a devoted autocrat, believing that this form of rule was best for Russia. She absolutely despised the idea of any participation in governmental affairs by the people. She wanted nothing where representatives were elected by the people. She wanted to hand an autocratic throne to her son.
