Why did assassination of archduke franz ferdinad lead to world war 1?

In the years leading the to outbreak of World War 1, alliances were made among the great powers in Europe to create what is known as a "balance of power." The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand drew the Austro-Hungarian Empire into war with Russia. Austria-Hungary's alliance with Germany forced Germany into the war, and Russia's alliances with England and France forced them into the war as well. With the single declaration of war between Austria-Hungary and Russia, all of Europe's great powers were suddenly at a state of war with one another.

Why was Germany fighting a war on two fronts in World War 1?

Fighting a war on two fronts splits up your military. You have a whole country between your two main forces, and you would need twice the number of supply lines. This weakened Germany in both World War I and World War II. The double front made leadership much harder, and where combined forces could have held off Allied assaults the smaller forces could not.

No, Austria - Hungary allied with Bulgaria (and Germany) in the First World War. It was invaded by the Allies in 1916.

How did the assassination spark off World War 1?

When the Archduke was assassinated by a Bosnian terrorist, Austria-Hungary blamed Serbia, and immediately demanded that Austrian officials be allowed in to Serbia to ensure that all anti-Habsburgs propaganda was put down. Austria-Hungary wanted to keep their empire intact, so felt this was a necessary measure. When Serbia refused, Austria-Hungary declared war. The Tsar did not want Austria-Hungary to meddle in the Balkans, as the Black Sea was a major trade route for the Russians. Germany was allied to Austria Hungary, and agreed to stand by them in the face of a Russian attack. France was allied to Russia, and in order to conquer France quickly so that they could turn all their attention to Russia, Germany bypassed the French defenses by invading Belgium. Britain intervened to protect Belgian neutrality.

Did Austria-Hungary go to war without Germany?

The Archduke of Austria was assassinated by the Blackhand (said to be created by Serbians) Austria gave ultimatoms to Serbia, like to surrendor all members of the Blackhand and for the permission to have Austrian people come into Serbia, to make sure these actions took place. However because Serbia did not want Austrian troops in their country "spying" on them they refused and the Austrians claimed war. Beacause of the alliance Austria-Hungary had with Germany, Germany entered war as soon as Austria-Hungary claimed it.

What two countries started world war 1 only?
