Duct Tape is a generic name for a variety of products made with different materials. Its usually expected to be a thin grey thermoplastic ribbon reinforced with an unwoven or open weave cloth reinforcement of polyester or cotton fiber adhesive coated on the reinforrcement side. The grey color is usually a dull metallic grey corresponding to galvanized steel ductwork. Commonly available duct tape varies widely in reinforcement construction and strength, thermoplastic resistance to breakdown in sunlight, and adhesive tack, durability, temperature range, and so on.
