First, "electric craft" is assumed to be a corruption of "Electro-Craft", the name of the most popular post-WWII hand grinder set made by the Casco Corporation of Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The heart of all Casco sets was the Model 50H hand-held high-speed grinder. This tool was introduced in 1936, two and four years, respectively, after Casco's main competitors Dremel and Chicago Wheel & Mfg. introduced their versions; nonetheless, thanks primarily to the tool's ergonometric compactness and handsome Art Deco styling, Casco was soon number two in sales. But after WWII, despite vigorous promotion and the introduction of five new tool sets, Casco never regained its position. Indeed, by about 1960, Casco grinders became the first to disappear.

Casco grinders can still be used today with either vintage or current Dremel-sized accessories. Just remember that the tools are low-torque and pace the work accordingly.
