On the 1998 Ford Ranger , rear ABS brakes were standard on the XL and XLT 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel ABS was an option on the 2 wheel drive models. The more expensive 4x4 XLT version came with 4 wheel ABS according to my Consumer Guide book - Helpfull My Ranger does have 4 wheel ABS.

Look for wiring running out to the front wheel bearings. If there are speed sensors at the front wheels, then you have 4 wheel abs.
To determine if your vehicle has 4-wheel or 2-wheel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), check the owner's manual or look for an ABS warning light on the dashboard when you start the vehicle. Additionally, you can inspect the brake system: if all four wheels have ABS sensors and modules, it typically indicates 4-wheel ABS. If only the front wheels have these components, it's likely a 2-wheel ABS system. Lastly, performing a test drive in a safe environment can also help; with 4-wheel ABS, you should feel the system working at all four wheels during hard braking.
You have 4 abs sensors, one on each wheel. They are located on the inner side of each wheel.
Check the fuse panel on the driver's end of the dash and look at fuse # 14 If the # 14 fuse is a 20 amp - you have the rear wheel ABS If the # 14 fuse is a 10 amp - you have 4 wheel ABS brakes You would think that the 4 wheel ABS would have a larger fuse , but it's 10 amp
Two wheel abs will only have wheel speed sensors in the rear. Four wheel abs will have wheel speed sensors at all four wheels.
