I have a rototiller 6 hp 17" reartine M#917.293310. which has the drive wheels not driving in fwd. or rev. ( however the blades work fine) . pls let me know what you can to help me repair this problem. Thank you
The rototiller uses engine oil that is 30 weight or more. The transmission does not need to have oil added to it, only the engine.Ê
You will have to remove the starter housing to determine if it is the starter mechanism or the engine. Normally the starter mechanism is not too difficult to repair. But if it is engine could be very bad news.
A 5hp craftsman engine has a compresson of 135psi
Sounds like the float in the carb is stuck closed or the main jet in the carb is plugged.Take the spark plug out and pour a small amount if gas in the engine put the plug back in and see if the engine starts for a shot period of time,if so then its in the carb somewhere
0.59 liters or 20 fluid ounces!
A Craftsman 917388592, has a 4-cycle, Briggs & Stratton engine.
It appears that they do. They have Craftsman ATVs (which a person described as looking like a Polaris with a Craftsman engine).
It could be several things . The carb is not getting enough fuel or the ignition is shorting out when the engine gets hot . The fuel filter is plugged , the air filter is plugged .
No, you cannot change the rotation direction of an engine easily. The direction of rotation is determined by the design and placement of engine components such as the crankshaft and camshaft. It would require significant modifications to the engine's internal components to change its rotation direction.
what grade of oil on this engine

Check the owners manual on the web for your product, for example the F200 series specifies the same oil as the engine SAE30
