To change the CV joint on the rear axle of a 2001 Polaris Sportsman 500, first, elevate the rear of the ATV and secure it on jack stands. Remove the rear wheel and brake caliper to access the axle. Disconnect the CV joint from the differential by removing the retaining clip and then slide the axle out of the hub. Replace the CV joint with a new one, reinstall the axle, and reassemble all the components in the reverse order. Ensure everything is tightened to the manufacturer's specifications before lowering the vehicle.
