Prairie 700 belt light indicator reset procedure requires the 1st safety step of inspecting the belt's integrity by removing the CVT cover. There is an ON/OFF safety switch that must be turned ON if it has been tripped. If tripped to OFF position, this is the cause of quad running rough and at maximum speed around 5 MPH. This is a safety mode to reduce the possibility of the belt jamming inside the CVT cover if it's severely worn or simply too loose and requiring replacement.
If the belt appears in good shape, without cracks, tears, or missing teeth, you should also measure the width of belt for wear and measure it's tension for it's give. Width of 1.13" or more is good, belt tension should not give much more than 3/4 of an inch with about 10 lbs. of pressure. If the belt meets this inspection, your belt should be OK and resetting the belt light indicator can be performed.
Re-attach the CVT cover after the inspection.
Reset procedure: Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
You will need to find and disconnect 3 sets of cables located above the CVT cover that are tucked under the body of the Quad just under the air filter. One two-wire cable that runs from the CVT cover. And two - 4 wire connectors - one black and one gray. Once disconnected. Once disconnected, re-attach the gray male to the black female.
Turn the ignition ON. The belt light will blink rapidly then it will slow down to 1 second intervals. Let it blink a minimum of 7 times (7 seconds) and then turn the ignition OFF.
Re-connect all the cables. Black to black, gray to gray and the 2-wire connector.
Turn the ignition ON, the belt light should be OFF.
This procedure solves the blinking belt light indicator reset procedure and when the CVT belt safety switch is tripped.
If the indicator remains ON, the Quad requires a professional service check of the belt, clutch and safety system.
