I would first check connections. Clean terminals, makes sure it has good connection between battery and starter, as well as fuse box. Then check battery, Even if it shows 12 volts, it may have no cold cranking power left in it. A simple way is to turn on lights, they should be bright. If they almost die when you hit starter, most likely the battery is bad, or starter is draining to much power. I would always check least expensive and easiest probable component first, (battery most likely) If the connections seem good, battery is good, then pull starter, take it down and have it bench tested. Good Luck
The alternator might be the problem.
The starter is probably at fault. Hit it with a hammer real good and if it starts it is the starter for sure. That won''t work but a few times.
Check your battery first, its terminal connection and connection leading to the starter.
The problem is not in the starter. Check the starter solenoid/relay switch or look for a loose battery cable connection.
bad solenoid in the starter or insufficient voltage to the starter
Sounds like a starter problem. you can have a garage test it for you. Or you can test it yourself. Have you tried to bump start it?
you need a new battery. if battery has been replaced and this still does not solve the problem, you must have had the bad battery for too long and it ruined the If the new battery doesn't solve the problem you can have check the battery cables, make sure they have a clean tight connection. Also the problem could be with your starter also.
the wiring from my battery to my starter had a short that's what the problem was, thanks anyways
Have you checked your starter? If it clicks but does not turn over this is probably the issue. If you have a pipe, lug wrench, or retractable baton(my preference), tap the starter housing a few times pretty hard. Tapping the casing may help un-seize(?) your starter gear which is preventing the starter from cranking. The ultimate correction for your problem though would be testing your starter and possibly replacing it. Have you checked your starter? If it clicks but does not turn over this is probably the issue. Commonly CKP sensor or Starter. What does it do when you try to start it? clicks
sounds like your in the market for a starter.
I have had the same problem with my teg. my mate has had the same problem with his prelude. I think it may be computer related. I have found that by turning the key very slowly just before it clicks seems to solve it. I don't undeestand why, but this works for me. This first started happening at about 240000kms Your problem is the solenoid in the starter motor. I had the same problem and got my starter reconditioned for $200au. starts first go every time now
