Pull the motor or pull the transmission, one of them has to come out.
The pull down motor switch could be defective. Check for power to the motor
pull all the motor mounts off and disconnect all the pipes and tubes and wires
pull it out
a war or a crime
Pull the carpeting back around the latch. You'll see the motor, and there will be a plug attached to it. Pull the plug.

You can pull them together.
You have to pull the oil pan. In order to do that you have to pull the motor. I just replaced the motor with a brand new one in my 5.2. Make sure you set plenty of time aside. If you do pull the motor. Do not unhook the brackets that are connected to the front end and the motor. Good luck
NO you do not have to pull the engine.
