Don't worry about the whole 'car oil or bike oil' thing. It's an internet myth that wet clutch bikes need a special oil. For 50 years, wet clutch bikes have worked quite happily on oils intended for use in both cars and motorcycles and in the olden days, those oils were chock full of additives. If a clutch slipped, it was because it was worn out, not because of some magical extra slipperyness of the oil!

Oil manufacturers starting creating 'Bike specific' oils to sucker people into paying extra money for 1 litre bottles rather than doing what motorcyclists had always done, bought a gallon (5 litres) of oil and just stuck it in.

Honda, like every other motorcycle manufacturer don't specify one or the other and never have, not in 1958 when the Cub came out, and not now either!

The Honda Cubs, with their auto clutches are perfectly happy with any oil as long as it is the correct viscosity. Better quality oils last longer but that's true in any vehicle!

Half the known world stick whatever oil is handly in and the C90, like all wet clutch bikes, runs perfectly well on and oil ending in '40' or '50'...e.g SAE 0-40, SAE 5-40, SAE 10-40, SAE15-40 etc etc, and SAE 5-50, SAE 10-50, SAE20-50 and so on.

Synthetics last longest and require less topping up, budget oils cost less but need more frequent oil changes and will need topping up a lot if the bike is used hard.
