Ok i had this motor on my go kart. i had a header on it and a fire sloted head also. i was driving it hard for awhile and the rod broke in 5 pieces and the piston warped and messed up the crankshaft . So i put new rings in it and a new rod and cranksaft. The motor has good fire and the valves are not sticking i tried pouring a little gas in the carb. the motor turns over good it ran fine before i blew the rod. I cant get the motor to start i have no idea why.the gas in the carb is oily to i dont know if its a valve guide or what. Could i have installed the rings wrong i have no idea,.... Any help would be appreciated
.030

SAE 30
Run the car good
All the small Briggs engines seem to have a points gap of 0.02 inches
any where from 120 lbs to 180 lbs
A Champion CJ8Y or J19LM will perform fine
0.030" for a champion or 0.020" for NGK and others.
The spark plug should be gaped at .030"(76mm)
It may be one of two things. Either it isn't getting enough gas, or to much
On a 5HP Briggs and Stratton engine, timing marks are typically found on the flywheel and the engine block. Look for a notch or a mark on the flywheel, which aligns with a corresponding mark on the engine block when the piston is at top dead center (TDC). These marks help ensure proper timing during assembly or maintenance. Always refer to the specific engine model's service manual for detailed guidance.
The most common reason for a carburetor not to receive fuel is a plugged fuel line. The fuel filter can also be plugged.
