The Courage of Lassie- was a movie, not a musical group. it is certainly not a song. the Television show- Lassie used to use an instrumental version of the song (what child is this/Greensleeves- which is both a Christmas carol and a secular song-with differing titles. This was without exception the recessional theme song. They did not have an introductory theme song as I recall
Courage of Lassie is a Canadian band that was formed in Vancouver in the nineteen eighties. They have lived and worked in Montreal, Toronto, London and Berlin. They have played with famous artist like the Police, New Order and the B52s among others. The band toured Canada and Europe extensively during the eighties and early nineties.
They have released six albums in vinyl and C.D. format of which This Side of Heaven is the best known. Their best album is City of Tears which is also the hardest to find. Some of their older recordings sell for more than a hundred dollars.
They were the first band to incorporate acoustic instruments with electronica effects.They sang in French German and English and employed Mediterranean Folk Music with unique time signatures: the instrumental songs "Kali Nichta" and "Kali Mera" from "This Side of Heaven" are in 7/8 and 5/4 time. Their most successful song was "Pour Toi Mon Amour" which translated the lyrics of an obscure Jacques Prevert poem.
