I am not aware of any negative feelings of French people towards Scottish people. Near Sancerre in Center France (the birthplace of Napoleon's marshall McDonald), a small town, Aubigny-sur-Nère, revels in being 'the city of Stuarts' and is proud of the local - but strangely out-of-place - pipe band. Through history, the Scots have been long-standing allies of the French against the English and that alliance has survived in the minds. This is one of the marks of the high esteem the Scots enjoy in France. This is also, and maybe especially true, in Brittany where the Celtic origins make people think they are sort of cousins or family with the Scots.
Yes, I am quite sure the French have a God... many French people are Catholic. But not all French people are religious
