Until they become adults, minors are the responsibility of the parents. This can change with emancipation or marriage.
How old is this person? Child or adult? 18 year old that still acts like a child? I do believe 18 is the age for most states to consider it legal for them to enter into contracts. Unless you co-sign with the person you are not legally obligated for their finances. Under 18 tho, you are responsible for any damages or financial crap they get into .
Can a 16 yr old move out of an abusive home where he lives with step dad because him and his biological mother have no relations due to a ugly divorce and move to his biological grandparents in alberta
Hello, For starters, "emancipation" does not exist in Canada, only the U.S. In Alberta you can legally leave, but, with that being said, you must meet the minimum requirements: A) You must have family willing to take you. B) You must be able to support yourself or the people taking you in, must be able to support you (i.e., pay for schooling, food, shelter, clothes, ETC) C) You must be enrolled in school until you either, turn the legal age of majority (18), or until you graduate, because you parents still are responsible for you, unless you go the Alberta courts and get a court order saying you live with somebody else other than your parents, but you need a lawyer. It most cases, you "leaving" would most likely be considered as a "runaway" in Alberta. But if you can demonstrate safe living, continuing school, being able to pay for yourself, or somebody else for that matter, then the police and law enforcements forcing you home are very low. No, they're not. At 18 a child is LEGALLY an adult, and have to pay their own bills and costs if the parents are not willing to do it. -- Yes, if they meet the following: still live at home with no means to support themselves or if they are still attending school. I do not think this applies everywhere. This continues until age 21 in some countries, but mostly 18 the (civilized) western world. This applies in the United States until 21, but only if the child meets the above criteria. If the parent has kicked them out even with no way to support themselves then they are not responsible. However as long as they are living under the parents roof they are until 21.
You can always file dependents on your income tax return, as long as you have dependents living in your home that you are responsible for supporting financially.
If your daughter is over 18, she's considered an adult and financially responsible for herself, assuming she's not a full-time student, not living a home and she's not on your insurance policy. The hospital will attempt to collect the debt from her.
In New York, parents are generally not legally responsible for their 18-year-old child once the child is no longer living in their home. Once the child reaches the age of majority (18 in New York), they are considered adults and are responsible for themselves.
If you petsit for profit, it is a good idea to have a lisence as you are financially responsible for the pets in your care.
In Connecticut, parents are usually not legally responsible for an 18-year-old who chooses not to live in their home. At 18, an individual is considered an adult and is responsible for their own decisions and actions. However, there may be exceptions such as if the parents have a legal duty, such as child support obligations, or if the 18-year-old is still a high school student.
He is an adult and the court can find you financially responsible if he is in college, not otherwise. In that case you still pay child support and can choose to pay directly to him or his bills. Just go to court and have it modified.
The legal age to leave home without parental permission varies by country or state. In most places, the age is typically between 16 and 18 years old. It is important to check the laws in your specific location.
Yes legally you are still responsible for your daughter as long as she is living in your home. Now if she no longer is living with you than you are responsible in ethical aspect as you are their parent.
Not unless they signed taking that responsibility on. The estate has to resolve the issue.
Adulthood as related to responsible parenthood not only means that you provide for your children financially, but also that you provide effective discipline (both in rewards and punishments), unconditional love, and a stable and loving home life.
You must have adopted it, or conceived it I believe.
