You can't *GO* to prison. you can be *sentenced* to prison and if your term is longer than 5 years, you will be in juvie for 5 years and then move to prison when you turn 18. Answer It very much depends on where a person lives. In some countries such as Nigeria and Thailand, people as young as 13 can be sentenced to prison, and may even find themsleves alongside prisoners who are adult. In other countries, such as those in Europe a person who is 13 would normally be sent to a young offenders' facility and the level of security would depend on the nature of the crime. In some cases, people are released on turning 18 and in other cases (e.g. murder) they remain detained, but in a proper prison rather than a place for teenagers.
