No, that is not possible. It is a form of copying, which is piracy and not allowed. However, some games require a small installation before it can be played. These installations is only a part of the BD-R.
*different person* This is not a form of copying, as if you own a media, you can have it exist and use it on any media player. If it is possible to copy a disk onto the hard drive so you can play it with remote play (what I'm trying to do) then it's perfectly legal, as long as you don't turn around and get rid of the original game disk. This is the same as, for example, copying a CD onto your iPod. I think this is possible (because I have made copies of my game disks onto another disk, therefore it is possible to burn them), I just haven't found a way to format the files so the PS3 reads them without burning them to a disk.
Whether you feel it is coping is not the point. The point is that the machine has been designed not to allow a disc to be copied and played. The PS3 will not burn a disc.

∙ 10y agoIt may sound like a simple yes, but it is not. Many new PS3 features require online updates of the PS3 before they have the capability to play certain games or be able to use the PlayStation Move or the 3D Television and games.
