I am not sure if Canada is the BEST country to live in but I know it is a great country. I am an immigrant to Canada and have lived here most of my life. Canada has alot of western advantages such as Democracy, freedom, etc. but with a social consciousness that you do not always find elsewhere. We have a universal medicare system, we have a progressive pension system and much of our education system is still subsidized. We have the freedom to retain our roots when we immigrate and are not as much of a melting pot as the United States. We have a diverse culture and climate, ranging from subtropical in the west to pretty darn cold in central Canada. We have mountains, rivers lakes and much forest. In fact the majority of our population live in the southern portion of the country, leaving much of the north to wilderness. Although our culture is definitely influenced by our neighbours to the south, we are distinct. Americans like to note how "polite" we are. Because of our gun laws, our level of crime is lower than that of the States, but that is slowly changing. Religeon, although important, does not take on the stridency that seems to happen in the U.S and we actually have a strong Social Democratic Party with an active role in our Parliament. Our parliamentary system is bicameral with both a House of Commons and a Senate, modeled on the British System. We have 2 Official Languages, French and English.
And its also the best in Ice Hockey! :D
Canada is one of the more safe countrys and provides free health care, also things are relitivly cheap "inexpensive" compared to many other places (countries).
However I would disagree on most things being relatively cheap because just south of the border in the States products are known to be less expensive as they have less taxes and the same products would be bigger or especially with food the portions would be larger.
Well...
-Free health care
- Lots of Jobs
- Lots of space
- Very similar to America in ways
- Unlike America, where once your in America people call you American, here, nobody calls you Canadian because we are so diverse, only about 5-10% of the population are true Canadians, the rest are immigrants, so You'll be called by nationality instead of being called American
With only 4 people per sq/km it is one of the few sustainable countries in the world. It naturally sinks more carbon than it's few people produce. With only one half of one percent of the worlds population living in 10 million sq/kms there is room to live here and in a world with 7.1 billion people that is getting rarer and rarer.
