If there are only two contacts they are there to allow the capacitor to be connected into a circuit. If this is not a "just for fun" nonsense question, please describe the actual capacitor clearly and it may then be possible to give an answer. Please state: * the capacitance value (it is usually printed on the body of the capacitor) * the working voltage (if it is printed on the body of the capacitor) * the type of body (metal, plastic, etc) * the maker's name (if you know it - it may be shown on the body) * exactly how many contacts there are and where each contact is positioned

Because the gearbox only functions properly at certain temperature's and weather conditions. It works best at cool dry weather but in hot humidity and frigid temperature around or below freezing. Its mostly because of the not top par radiator. Keep fluids levels at the correct spot and u have a chance of getting it to top gear (but not top speed)

The Condenser or Capacitor as used with a motor in an electric fan does the job of converting the single phase AC household outlet supply to a pseudo two phase supply.The two phases of the electrical current flowing through the motor windings create a Rotating magnetic field in the motor , which pulls the rotor along with the rotating magnetic field by attraction. This causes the motor to spin spontaneously. By implication three phase Industrial motors or fans do not need such capacitor since the rotating field is inherently generated by the three phase current and magnetic circuit.Improvement to above:It's correct to say that the capacitor is there for starting the motor, as the AC magnetic field is rotating too fast to generate any appreciable starting torque ("push"). Check to see if the capacitor is good. It is usually located inside the outdoor unit. It could be that the capacitor is bad and needs replacing. The outdoor fan will still run if you have a dual capacitor. One sure sign of a blown capacitor is that the top of the capacitor is bowed outward. If you have a multimeter you could also check the amp draw on the condensing unit. I would look at the capacitor first though

Depending on the make and model of the air conditioner. It is probably your blower motor. There are two, possibly three items to consider. The motor, the start capacitor and the run capacitor. Some systems will have just the motor and the start capacitor. Some have just the motor and the run capacitor. Usually (not always) the capacitor will show physical signs of failure. Burned terminals, swelling or white stuff coming out of the top. Expect to pay $30 for the capacitors and several hundred for a new blower motor.
