ANYONE have an answer to this question... because I NEED the answer NOW. First know that not all African leaders had anything to do with white people and may not have known that whites even existed, only the ethnic groups at or very near the coast would have been in a position to meet and know white people who were traders. That said, they were largely puppets for whites, the whites converted them to Christianity and would marry in to their kingdoms. They accepted the whites' offers to trade because they wanted the guns, especially. But this became worse when whites also traded with nearby ethnic groups who were enemies. Can you imagine if somebody came and gave your enemy country superior weaponry? That would cause paranoia. So even though the whites did not force them to trade, the gun cycle would compel them to.There were some groups that initially turned the whites down only to accept the whites when they needed guns because the whites went to nearby enemies who started attacking with guns. That's called the gun/slave cycle.

The Underground Railroad
In Africa today, slavery exists in forms such as forced labor, human trafficking, and debt bondage. Vulnerable populations, including women and children, are often targeted by traffickers who exploit them for labor or sexual exploitation. Efforts are being made to combat modern slavery through awareness campaigns, law enforcement, and support for victims.
