The UN was formed in the 1950's. The only war that's ever occurred in South Africa was the Boer War between the Dutch and the British in 1899 to 1902. The British Zulu wars occurred in the 1880's north of South Africa.
The only war the UN ever fought was in Korea; other than any operations.

In 1915, during WWI, the South African Army (which was at that time a British Dominion) captured the German colony of South-West Africa. After the war ended the South African government was granted permission to rule South-West Africa as a "Mandate". This meant that they controlled South-West Africa much like a colony, but they had to abide by rules put in place by the League of Nations. When South Africa itself became completely self-governing in 1931 it gained even more control over South-West Africa, and in 1990 it granted South-West Africa independence as Namibia.
