You mean before Europeans got to the Americas. Before 1492 horses had been extinct in North America since the Ice Age (and they had only been very small prehistoric horses, not suitable for riding). The Spanish re-introduced horses to the Americas after 1492.

Since no native American group developed the technology to smelt iron ore, the production of swords was impossible. They did work certain soft metals such as gold and copper, but mainly for ritual objects and jewellery.

Bows, war clubs and stone knives were the main weapons among most native tribes.
