The 2004 Bihar flood was one of the worst floods in Bihar, India in a decade. 885 people and 3272 animals had lost their lives and nearly 21.299 million human were affected. 20 districts of Bihar were affected.
The 2007 Bihar flood, which started in the month of August 2007, was described by the United Nations the worst hit flood in the living memory of Bihar. It is believed to be the worst flood in Bihar in last 30 years. By August 3, the estimated death toll was 41 people, and 48 schoolgirls were marooned in a school in the Darbhanga district. By August 8, an estimated 10 million people in Bihar had been affected by flooding.
The 2008 Bihar flood, which is one of the worst and disastrous floods in the history of the Indian state of Bihar, occurred due to a breach in the Kosi embankment near Indo-Nepal border (at a place called Kusha in Nepal) on August 18, 2008. The river changed its course and inundated areas which hadn't experienced floods in last many decades. The flood affected over 2.3 million people in the northern part of Bihar.

In India, 10,136 people, according to official estimates, were killed and hundreds of thousands were rendered homeless when a tsunami triggered by the 2004 Indian ocean earthquake near the Indonesian island of Sumatra hit the southern peninsular coast on 26 December 2004. The earthquake registered 9.0 in moment magnitude and was the biggest in five decades.

The 2001 Gujarat earthquake occurred on January 26, 2001, India's 51st Republic Day, at 08:46 AM. The epicentre was Bhuj (23.6° N 69.8° E) Gujarat, India. With a magnitude of between 7.6 and 8.1 on the Richter scale, the quake killed around 20,000 people (including 18 in South eastern Pakistan), injured another 167,000 and destroyed nearly 400,000 homes.

The 2000 Sri Lanka Cyclone, (IMD designation: BOB 05 JTWC designation:04B), was the strongest tropical cyclone to strike Sri Lanka since 1978. It produced heavy rainfall and strong winds, damaging or destroying tens of thousands of houses and leaving up to 500,000 homeless. At least nine people died as a result of the cyclone.
The 2001 India cyclone was the second strongest tropical cyclone, in terms of barometric pressure, to form in the Arabian Sea on record. Although a powerful cyclone over water, the storm had relatively little impact over land. In the Valsad district, two coastal communities lost a combined 200 homes due to large swells produced by the storm. However, the losses were more extensive offshore. Between 120 and 900 fishermen were listed as missing after contact was lost with their vessels during the storm.
Cyclone Aila (RSMC Designation: BOB02, JTWC Designation: 02B, also known as Severe Cyclonic Storm Aila) was the second tropical cyclone to form within the Northern Indian Ocean during 2009. Health officials in Bangladesh confirmed a deadly outbreak of diarrhea on 29 May, with more than 7,000 people being infected and four dying. In Bangladesh, an estimated 20 million people were at risk of post-disaster diseases due to Aila. Damage totaled $40.7 million (USD).
Severe Cyclonic Storm Onil (India Meteorological Department designation: ARB 03; Joint Typhoon Warning Center designation: 03A) was the first 2004 tropical cyclone to be named in the northern Indian Ocean. Nine people died in several incidents related to the storm in Karachi. The drainage system of Hyderabad sustained significant damage, leading to several protests and demonstrations by city residents. Offshore, 300 fishermen are believed to have gone missing during the storm and no reports have stated their status since Onil's passage.
Cyclone Yemyin (JTWC designation: 03B, also known as Cyclonic Storm Yemyin and Deep Depression BOB 03/2007) was a deadly tropical cyclone that made landfall on India. The storm killed at least 140 people in India, and another 213 people died in Karachi, Pakistan from rains and winds that might have been associated with an outer band of the cyclone.
