Yes, L does die. The Shinigami named Rem, who was the owner of the Note that Misa Amane had possession of killed him. Anime 101: Yes. he does die. As seen in episode 25 he is killed by Rem the shinigami that owns Misa's death note. In the end L dies, and Rem dies. Hope I didnt get off topic or anything ya hope this helps - SaGe Yes L dies.. L had the death note, and he was about to test his theory that the rule that If you don't write a name in the death note in thirteen days, then you will die. If he had been able to test that theory, he would have discovered that that rule was a fake, and this rule had been the predominant factor in the proposal of innocence of Light and Misa. L would have suspected Light and Misa as the Kiras again, and he quite possibly would have discovered the truth and have them executed.
