Both of these Monarchs are evenly matched, in terms of how well they ruled, thier skills at battlefield commanders and thier overall performances as Kings. Both would bear witness to thier county's darkest hours and both would see glorious triumphs. But of the two I would have to say that Fredrick is better. He not only was an impressive statesmen and general, but he brought Prussia into an age of greatness that she had never before experienced. Not only that but Fredrick preserved Prussia as a nation. During the Seven Years War Prussia stood alone against a coalition of French, Austrians, Russians, Saxons, with her only ally being far off Britain. For seven years he would rule from the battlefield. His victories being his political bargaining chip. Ultimatley Fredrick would survive with his kingdom, though in tatters and dissaray, remaining intact. Afterwords he would begin a long campaign of rebuilding, and within a few short years Prussia was back on its feet. Fredrick is known as the "Great" for a reason- as is Peter- he ruled Prussia for forty-six years (1740-86) and in that time he led her into her most gage. He is by far the greates ruler of the eighteenth century, and , in my opinion atleast, its greatest military commander.
