As per historical evidence, the first invader was Alexander the Great, the Greek King, in 4 th century BC who defeated Pururava in what is now Pakistan. This invasion was a short one. Alexander's Governer Selucus was later driven out by the Mauryan Emperor Chandragupta Maurya. The second invasion was by Muhamad-bin-Qasim, the Arab invader in 7 th century who defeated Raja Dhahir and sacked Sind also in Pakistan. This invasion was permanent where the Arabs established their dominance and further extended their influence towards the west till they were stopped by the Rajputana Kings. Qasim's invasion laid the ground work for invasion and plunder by the Afghans from the 10th century onwards.
