Did Australia fight against the Finland in World War 2?

Yes and no. As part of the British Commonwealth, Australia fought against Germany and Italy. Germany and Finland essentially aligned themselves to oppose a common foe-the Soviet Union. During the early stages of WWII, Britain actually gave aid to Finland in defense of attacks by the Soviet Union on Finnish territories. When Finland aligned with Germany, Britain declared war on Finland. Thus, the two become enemies by default. However, they never actually had combat with each other.

Was Finland taken over by Germany during world war 2?

No it wasn't, but they were very friendly "allies".Between November 1939 and March 1940, Finland fought a war against the Soviet Union, often called the Winter War. The Soviets wanted a bigger buffer zone between Finland and Leningrad (formerly and now again St. Petersburg); Finland refused to give up the land and the Soviets invaded. However the Soviet Army was crippled by Stalin's 1937 "Great Purge" which resulted in thousands of executed high ranking officers; and the Finnish military had the advantage of defending its own territory. Finland was very successful in the war, but eventually had to come to peace talks. In the treaty ending the war, Finland agreed to surrender the territory that the Soviets had demanded. After the war, Finland (probably correctly) feared there would eventually be another war with the Soviets, so they began looking for allies elsewhere. Britain and France were already fighting World War II against Germany so they could not help; France was occupied by Germany in May 1940, permanently ending any effort they could have provided. However, Germany, looking to secure northern Europe from British meddling (Germany had invaded Norway and Denmark just before invading France), was willing to negotiate. Finland and Germany eventually came to an informal alliance, and German troops were stationed in Finland in preparation for Operation Barbarossa, Germany's 1941 invasion of Soviet Russia. Finland was still angry at the Soviets for defeating them in the Winter War, and participated as a "Co-Belligerent" (instead of as a full "ally") in the invasion of the Soviet Union.No. Around the time World War II started, while everyone was paying attention to what Germany was doing, the Soviet Union attacked Finland. The war was very violent, and Finland actually fought very well. However, the Soviet military was just too large and Finland was eventually forced to surrender and give up valuable territory near Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). Because the war happened over the winter of 1939 and into 1940, it is known as the Winter War.After the war ended, Finland looked for allies elsewhere, because they were afraid that the Soviets would attack them again. England and France were busy with the war against Germany. But Germany was willing to make friends with Finland. So they did. When Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941, Finland helped. The Finnish government wanted to get revenge for the Winter War, so they not only helped Germany, but invaded too, and even assisted at the brutal Siege of Leningrad. However, once Germany started losing the war, so did Finland. Finland was able to negotiate a ceasefire with the Soviets, and even fought a small war against German troops who did not leave Finnish territory.

What wars was Finland a part of?

In 1939, Germany invaded Poland, which triggered the start of World War II. While France and England were focused on fighting Germany (and ironically did very little actual fighting until May 1940), the Soviet Union began quietly invading countries in eastern Europe with Germany's permission. One of the countries invaded by the Soviet Union was Finland. The Soviets wanted to take control of at least the area around Leningrad (now St. Petersburg, Russia), although ideally they wanted to conquer most/all of Finland. The invasion became known as the Winter War. The war was short and very bloody- the Soviet Red Army was huge and powerful, but the Finnish troops were better led and fought very well. The Soviets suffered heavy casualties but eventually won, and took control of the territory around Leningrad that they had sought.Later, during World War II, the Germans betrayed the Soviets and launched a massive invasion, called Operation Barbarossa. Finland, still angry over their loss in the Winter War, agreed to help the Germans. Finnish troops even fought on the side of Germany, although Finland and Germany were never technically allies. The Finnish called this the "Continuation War".The Continuation War also ended in failure for Finland. In September 1944, Finland made peace with the Soviets, at great cost. One of the conditions of the peace was that Finland had to force German troops to leave Finland immediately; when Finland did so, the Germans did not immediately evacuate. This led to a small war between Germany and Finland called the Lapland War (Lapland is a region in northern Finland that Germany had partially occupied). The Lapland War only really lasted a month or so, but no peace was achieved until April 1945, when Germany finally had to evacuate their troops (and Germany surrendered, ending World War II in Europe, a few days later).
