Well it was most said she died because a drunk driver ran over her shortly after she gave birth to Michelle but there was a missing scene that was n the script of the last episode in 1995. But in the middle they were suppose to make it happier by saying that Pam was not fully killed she was suppose to return n the last episode by not being fully killed and returning to the tanner house and being all happy but it was forgotten to be written

She died in a car accident shortly after giving birth to Michelle. Later in the series its revealed that it was a drunk driver.
