The Seminole Indians were a group of native americans and escaped slaves that had settled in Spanish Florida. They were notorious for their raid parties, which Spain could not attend to with its shortage of men. Andrew Jackson, seeing Spain's weakness, invaded Florida to capture the Seminoles, in turn frightening Spain into ceasing the territory. They played a small part in the Indian Removal. Their nature being rebellious and sedentary, the Seminoles fought to keep their lands. In the end however, all native americans were moved to the west of the Mississippi.
