How did wizard get to oz?

It is through Dorothy's dream sequence that Professor Marvel gets to Oz in "The Wizard of Oz."

Specifically, Professor Marvel is a character from the beloved 1939 film version, not the original 1900 book edition, of "The Wizard of Oz." Dorothy meets him in the film's opening scenes in Kansas. He plays the role of the Wizard in the dream sequence and explains that he is in Oz because of freak instance in which he goes up in his hot air balloon and lands back down, not in Kansas, but in Oz.

Author and Oz series originator Lyman Frank Baum [May 15, 1856-May 5, 1919] identified the alphabetical tags to filing cabinets as the inspiration for the name Oz. On one of the days that he was puzzling over a name, he just happened to look at the identifying tags to the drawers. What suddenly stood out was the tag O-Z.
