Well, depending on where you are in the game, you don't even need to go to the Valor Lakefront. You exit Valor Lakefront, and head south to a Resort-type area. Then, make it to the center of that area, and head east. Travel and find your way eastward, and you should eventually make it to Sunyshore City.

Go up towards Veilstone, you will pass a fat man on you right and go to the right of the fence above him following the treeline. Further upward, a new path will appear on your right. This is Spring Path. Note: You will need a Pokemon who knows Rock Climb to reach Turnback Cave. You may also want to have a Pokemon who knows Defog once inside the cave.
