It is a mortal sin for a Christian to observe any of the ceremonial commandments as it would saying that you didn't believe the Messiah had arrived.
The civil commandments (St. Thomas refers to this as the judicial commandments) these may or may not be valid depending on your local government. It is not a sin to pass one of these commandments and enforce it, examples from the Pentateuch would be practically the entire 21st chapter of Exodus.
