That really depends on your political point of view. Canada does have a good economy so people could argue that Canada's positive attitude regarding trade has benefited the economy.
Others would point out that at one time Canada had the highest standard of living in the world and that Canada has more resources available for export than any other Nation on the planet and those resources are more valuable than every before.
And yet Canadians struggle to pay bills, maintain and build infrastructure and have many social programs they cannot afford. Worst yet our standard of living has been declining. We no longer have the highest standard of living and with increasing income inequality are losing our edge on our quality of living.

Toyota has been affected by the economy. Just as the economy had a downturn so has sales from Toyota. Toyota's sales are reflective of the current economy.
