Heritage Day, September 24, South Africans celebrate Heritage Day by remembering the cultural heritage of the many cultures that make up the population of South Africa. Various events are staged throughout the country to commemorate this day. Provincial Premier addressed the public at a Heritage Day celebration at the Gugulethu Heritage trail in 2007. In Hout Bay, there is an army procession and a recreation of the battle fought there. It's also a day for braais (barbeques).

∙ 13y agoBecause people have alot of bad memories from the apartheid era in South Africa, with happennings such as the Sharpeville uprisings where a lot of South Africans lost their lives fighting for equality, this day is to honour the history and to look back at those times
