The child must be over an age of 13 years old when he/she is considered a teenager, if they do not know where they are then I'm sure they would be worried, try leaving a note if your going to go somewhere, or if they have a cell phone and so do you, try to tell them if possible.

In the UK, as long as he or she likes, there is no limit.
I think it sould be mostly up to the parent but it should be when the child is mature enough to handle themselves and emergency situations. They should not be left home alone for too long the first time and go over the emergency procedures with your child.You may gradually increase the time alone if it is okay with the child. DO NOT LEAVE THE CHILD ALONE IF THEY DONT WANT TO BE LEFT HOME ALONE!!!!!
I do not think that is something that is regulated by the laws. A good parent would be sure that a child was responsible enough to do that. IT is left to the parent's judgement but if it were me, I wouldn't allow any child under 15 to stay home alone and that would be ONLY in a time of actual need.

In Illinois, there is no specific statutory age requirement to be left home alone. The state law only requires children under the age of 14 to be supervised by a responsible person. Parents are encouraged to assess the maturity level of their child before deciding whether it is safe for them to be left alone.

My parents left me home alone at age 10 because they went somewhere (I forgot) and I missed them very much after they left me for 2 days. :DI am a tough girl you know...!! XD
{| |- | There are no laws about what age someone can be left alone. The basic rule is that they must be safe and know how to stay safe. Most places would say that a 15 year old is a bit young to be left alone for three days. |}
There are no legal laws about the age a child may be left alone but a child who is left alone too young could leave the parent liable for negligence or child abuse. A general rule of thumb would be if the child can cook for him/herself or call emergency services.

To properly answer your question, we would have to know which state you are referring to.
Very typical for preteens to be scared when they're left home alone.
