Bio-reserves are multipurpose protective areas to preserve the genetic diversities.Its main objectives are:

1. Conservation of plants,animals,micro-organisms.

2.Promotion of research on ecological conservation.

3.Education and training to create an awareness of the biosphere.

There are 12 biosphere reserves in INDIA.They are:
