It's hard to tell. I've read estimates that the total precolumbian native population in the Western Hemisphere was about 20 million. Seeing as Canada represents a large section of this area, albiet much of that area is very frigid, I would guess it was around 3 million before Columbus. Add a century of plague and war to the mix and I would take a wild guess at anywhere from 100,000-1 million.
