Looking for a job on your own is difficult because job market in US is rough and most big companies don’t even prefer hiring immigrants unless you are really competent and have a solid background. But I think joining a boot camp could be a good option for you because they teach you exactly what you need to get a job.
Why a camp? Because to get a job in US as an immigrant, you need to have amazing skills and good network that you cannot develop on your own. Boot camps have solid network that help you get hired easily post completing your course. I can give you some recommendations of good places like:

Thinkful provides 6 months courses with one-o-one training or by a workshop. They teach software engineering, data science, UX/UI design and assist you in your job search until you are hired at a good place.
SynergisticIT offers online courses for 5-6 months duration. They have smaller batches which helps focus on each student better. Some of my friends have received good offers while working with them. They work on Java, Mern Stack, and AWS-cloud computing among other specialities.
General Assembly offers full time, part time and online courses. They teach JavaScript Development, Python programming, HTML, CSS and Web design circuit etc and have a flexible payment schedule that has helped many students fulfil their dream of building a career in IT industry.
Networking is very important when you are trying to find a job and having the right kind of skills is like cherry on top. These camps know the market and can assist you better in both aspects.
