Around 14,000,000 sq km actual landmass. Twice the size of Australia!. It can double in the area of the earths surface it covers in winter due to sea ice forming around the landmass and ice shelves. Antarctica directly linked to weather systems all round the world. I read it can actually cover as much as 1/10 th of the earths surface when winter ice is taken as a whole. Probably the most important continent in regards to future of the planet.
