Some natural resources are used in their natural state such as fresh water, some metals like , gold, timber, coal etc. Others require further processing, for example; Bauxite is turned into aluminum, iron ore is used to make iron and eventually steel, crude oil can be processed into a number of useful materials, uranium can be refined to use in power plants.
