These two things are very dissimilar. Catholicism is a revealed religion which includes the revelation of a Creator God to His Creatures (us) and how we should live our lives in order to gain heaven after death. Buddhism is not a religion at all, but a teaching about how to live your life here and be fully responsible for it. Both of them promise a certain peace of soul in face of the certain suffering that makes up this life, but Buddhism sees that peace of soul as the end result of their practice and Catholicism sees peace of soul as a gift of God and a foretaste of what they will be given after death.

A "Catholic guru" is an oxymoron as a guru is someone from either Hinduism or Buddhism.
